What is PrayerPlanet?
PrayerPlanet is a community of people, friends or strangers, committed to
praying with one another. All are responding to a main question: What are you
praying about today?
At PrayerPlanet, we believe 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to "pray without ceasing." And
with today's digital technologies, we can pray continually on the web and our
mobile phones. Further, we believe that prayer is an ongoing dialogue with God
and prayer partners about the everyday joys and challenges of life. Together,
with our prayer partners, we can offer the everyday occurrences to God.
Through PrayerPlanet you can keep updated on what your Prayer Partners are doing
at that moment or even make new partners through it.
We believe that prayer encompasses the ACTS method of A for "adoration" – giving
praise to God for who he is, C for "confession" – letting God and others know
when we mess up and need prayer for strength, T for "thanksgiving" – giving
gratitude to God for the many blessings we receive each day, and S for
"supplication" – offering our needs and the needs of others to God.
Your daily prayers are captured on your "My Planet Prayers" thread. And you can
signify any of these prayers for "My Prayer List" which gives you a manageable
prayer list to print or email to yourself for use during your private prayer
times.
Bloggers can use PrayerPlanet as a "mini-blog prayer" and developers can use its
API to develop applications on PrayerPlanet.

Can I use PrayerPlanet with my IM (Instant Messenger)?
Yes. Once you have registered on the site, go to Settings and enter your Instant Messaging ID. Then add PrayerPlanet to your Friends List on your IM client, and when you want to send a prayer just write it as if you were writing to a friend. We support virtually all major IMs (MSN, Gtalk, Jabber, AIM, ICQ and Yahoo). Remember that the maximum number of characters you can write per IM is 140. If you write more than that, the text will be truncated.
Does PrayerPlanet support HTML in the messages?
No, for security reasons PrayerPlanet does not allow html in your messages.
Can I partner with other PrayerPlanet users?
Add a person's name to the Prayer Partners search area at the top of your "My Prayer List" page. When you click to add this partner, they will show up as a partner on your "My Prayer List" page. When you click on this link, you will be following this person, that is, you will receive new prayers from this person in your IM, on your phone, in your e-mail or via the PrayerPlanet website. At the same time this person will appear in your list of partners and receive your prayer updates.
Can I stop praying for a user?
Yes. To stop praying for a user, click on Partners and select click "Stop praying for + Name of the user". The partner will be left on your Partner page but you won't receive their updates. If you select "Remove + Name of the user" they'll be removed from your list of Partners.
How do I know that someone is praying for me?
Go to your "My Prayer List" page and click on "Prayer partners praying for me." You will see all the users who are praying for you. You have the option to also begin praying for them.
Can I block any user?
Yes. On the user's profile page you will find a Block link. After you block the user, you will no longer appear in their list of Prayer Partners, their prayers will not appear in your "My Prayer List" Page and they can no longer pray for you. The user will not be notified that they were blocked. This blockade is not irreversible, if you change your mind, you can easily unlock this user following the same steps above.
Can I send a user a private prayer?
Yes, in the user's profile page, click on the "Send private prayer" link.
How do I find my private prayer?
Go to your page. Click "Private Prayers" on the left side of your profile to see all messages that you received from PrayerPlanet users. To see your sent prayers, click "Outbox".
How can I pray for all the different users around the world?
Go to either "Planet Map" or "Planet Prayers" and you'll see all the public prayers coming onto the site.
What's the best way for me to refresh my PrayerPlanet session?
Simply click on "My Prayer List" for a total refresh of your site.
Who can read new prayers that I post? Can I set it so that only my friends can read my new prayers?
By default, all messages are public. But, if you do not want your new prayers to be read by everyone, go to "Settings" and uncheck the box for "Let my messages be visible to all users, not just to my Prayer Partners."
Can I edit my prayers after its publication?
No. You can delete your prayers, but you cannot edit them.
Can I save prayers for my Prayer List?

What is the maximum size of my prayers?
The maximum limit is 140 characters.
Is there a limit of new prayers that I can post?
No, you can post as many prayers as you want.
I am receiving many prayers in my IM or email. What do I do?
You can stop receiving prayers from some people, without stopping receiving prayers from everyone. To do this, go to the page of the person you do not want to receive notifications from, and click DO NOT RECEIVE NOTIFICATIONS OF + Name.
How do I reply to a prayer?
You can reply to prayers in two ways:
- Click on the
under each prayer. Then, type in your reply.
- @username + message
An @reply is a public prayer sent from one user to another. If a message begins
with @username, we collect it as a reply. When other users click on this link,
they will be directed to the profile page of the user who posted the prayer
originally. Please note that if your PrayerPlanet account is private (only your
Prayer Partners can see your updates), users who are not your Prayer Partners
will not see your @replies.
What does RP, or Repray mean?
RP indicates a re-posting of someone else's prayer. This isn't an official PrayerPlanet feature, but people add RP somewhere in their prayer to indicate that part of their prayer includes something they're re-posting, sometimes with a comment/prayer of their own.
Example: @Healthcare RP "Lord, please guide our leaders and nation to the right healthcare solution." Yes Lord, grant our leaders wisdom.
How do I start a Prayer Team?
Only the website administrator can set up Prayer Teams on the Prayer Teams
page. However, you can create a profile page for the group of your choice, where
multiple people can post and share prayer requests and pages with each other.
To set up a profile page for your group or church, simply go to the Prayer
Planet registration page, and set up your group page in the same manner as a
personal profile page. Create a unique username for your group, such as
SmithSmallGroup. Then, choose an email address. Prayer Planet users are allowed
one account per email address. If you already have an email account with Prayer
Planet, you will receive a message prompting you to enter a different email. We
recommend you choose a shared email account that your group or church currently
uses.
After you’ve finished setting up your team account, let your team members know
the username and password for the account. Then, those persons can login and
access the account whenever they want to post team-related prayers. Next, ask
your team members to add the team as a prayer partner. This will allow each
individual in the team to receive updates through the notification preference of
their choice (email, web only, or SMS) from all the persons who are posting to
the team account.
How are profile pages different from team profile pages?
The prayers you post on the Planet Prayers public thread or in on your
personal profile page will not show up on the prayer team page you have created.
This allows you to have your own personal prayer list separate from updates you
receive via the prayer teams you belong to.
Can I post my own private prayers on PrayerPlanet, for my eyes only?
Not at this time. Eventually, there will be a module built for that, but in the meantime, you can send private prayer requests to one Prayer Partner by going to the user's profile page. Then, click on the "Send private prayer" link.
How do I "Nudge" a user?
If a user has not published a prayer on the site in a while and you want to see new prayers from them, you can send them a "Nudge" by clicking on the Nudge link on the user's profile. A notification will be sent to the user asking them to create a new prayer.
Can I put PrayerPlanet in my blog / site?
Yes. You can embed a PrayerPlanet widget anywhere that accepts Flash, Javascript or HTML, and you can even customize the widget to accommodate your site or blog. To get a widget code, go to SETTINGS and then MY STICKERS.
Is there an API for PrayerPlanet?
Yes, you can find it here: http://prayerplanet.net/api_docs
How do I erase my account and leave PrayerPlanet?
Go to SETTINGS and then REMOVE MY ACCOUNT. Keep in mind, we do not guarantee
that you can return to PrayerPlanet with the same username because when you
remove your account, your username becomes available for others to use.
